Senior PCB Design Engineer

Ultimate Staffing Services is actively seeking a highly skilled Senior PCB Design Engineer to join a dynamic team in California. This role is critical in strengthening PCB layout capability, ensuring high-quality design releases, and enabling scalable, manufacturable solutions. The ideal candidate will lead the design and layout of complex printed circuit boards supporting high-performance control systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop complex, multi-layer PCB layouts, including mixed signal, power, and high-speed designs.
  • Translate schematics into optimized layouts with strong consideration for signal integrity, EMI/EMC, and thermal performance.
  • Own PCB layout specialization, driving best practices and consistency across designs.
  • Prepare and release complete manufacturing packages, including Gerber/ODB++ outputs and documentation.
  • Define PCB stack-ups, materials, and fabrication requirements in collaboration with Electrical Engineering and vendors.
  • Apply strong DFM/DFA principles to ensure efficient fabrication and assembly.
  • Manage and maintain PCB libraries and component symbols/footprints using Altium.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Mechanical Engineering on enclosure, fit, and thermal constraints.
  • Support prototype builds, debug efforts, and root-cause analysis for PCB-related issues.
  • Work with external fabricators and contract manufacturing partners to resolve design and production challenges.
  • Offload and support Electrical Engineering by owning layout execution and release quality.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of PCB standards, tools, and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in PCB design and layout.
  • Advanced experience with Altium Designer or similar PCB CAD tools.
  • Strong expertise in multi-layer PCB design (6+ layers), signal integrity, and high-speed layout.
  • Experience with PCB stack-ups, materials, and fabrication processes.
  • Experience creating full design release packages, including Gerber/ODB++, fab, and assembly drawings.
  • Deep understanding of DFM/DFA principles.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in semiconductor equipment, industrial automation, or aerospace systems.
  • EMI/EMC design and mitigation.
  • HDI or rigid-flex PCB design.
  • Experience working with CM/EMS partners.

Work Hours:

Monday - Friday, first shift.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is $72 to $84 per hour.
